Yeah, I grew up in the US and then when I got to Australia somehow ended up on the electoral role (apparently when you get citizenship, you are automatically enrolled) and I was absolutely shocked when I discovered that I would be fined and harassed and threatened if I did not vote. It’s such a controlling, rule bound system. 😡
