My Mama Summer was born from a deep desire for authenticity— a response to the dissonance I felt on social media.
As an online business mentor, I’ve spent far more time on social media than I’d care to admit over the past decade. 😬 And while it’s helped me build a beautiful life, I’ve also found myself split in two:
Living my life, and
Creating another life that “fits” on the internet.
Instagram became a breeding ground for not-enoughness, feeding insecurities with ads, filters, and facades that only highlighted old wounds. And Facebook? It served me ads, posts, and group content that weren’t even part of my world—while the algorithm somehow made me invisible.
The pressure of social media became even more exaggerated when I became a mama. Suddenly, it wasn’t just about curating a life for myself; it was about measuring up to this picture-perfect image of motherhood that seems to flourish online. And while motherhood cracked my heart open in the best of ways, it also amplified the sense that I had to somehow do it all—and make it look effortless.
In both places, I felt pressured to be someone I wasn’t, always performing or refining, while the real me just didn’t fit the mould (it never has).
So, I created My Mama Summer to share more of who I am—not hide it.
Here’s the truth: I’m goofy AF. A mother and wife. Aussie living in México. Deep, loyal, and intuitive. Usually free of makeup and dressing unaesthetic AF.
But I’m not a “wild woman.” I’ve never voted. I don’t care what shape the earth is. I’m not a feminist. And I’m not religious.
I don’t fit into many boxes. 📦
And that’s exactly why I feel so at home here on Substack.
This is where people who are peeling back conditioning, shedding their skins, and embracing realness seem to gather. Here, it’s okay—celebrated, even—to be curious, to ask questions, and to connect deeply with others doing the same.
I guess you could call me unconventional. I tend to zag when everyone else is zigging. Not because I’m looking to be a “rebel” but because I’m wired to question things—especially contradictions and narratives that feel off-balance. I look for paths that integrate freedom and tradition, independence and connection, light and shadow.
Curiosity drives me, and I don’t worry if the questions sound stupid—they’re the ones that matter to me.
So, if you’re here to peel back the layers, live beyond labels, and connect over all the beautiful mess, I’d love for us to do it together. 🌻
